The Bar "Nightmare"

I agreed to let Joe start working on "improving" the bar area in the basement last weekend. What was I thinking?!? :) It has turned into a complete overhaul, but I must say, it is starting to look pretty good.

Here is a before pic of the bar area. Little did we know how much
work this project would become!

Uhh...what have we gotten ourselves into?!?

Framing the Bar

End of weekend one pic...

It may not look like we accomplished much this weekend, but trim work is tedious. We also ripped down the cabinets and mirror from the back wall, which was a nightmare in itself! The refridgerator, which was once an ugly almond color, is now painted a lovely black and according to Joe, well on its way to becoming a kegerator:) Also, notice the new green color on the wall.

This is how far we are at the end of weekend two.

A plumber will be probably be coming sometime this week to install a sink in the bar. Our goal for next weekend is to get the bar stained, hang new cabinets, and put a foot rail at the bottom of the bar. Will this project ever end?

Home Improvement Projects

With moving ino a new house, we are realizing that there is always something to repair, replace, or improve. Just when I feel good about completing one project, another one pops up. Below are photos of the entryway from before and after we moved in.

Before...

After...

Here are some photos from last weekend's project. We sanded/repainted the front door, hung a new door knocker (courtesy of Joe's parents), and installed new door knobs/locks.

Look for more home updates in the near future. We will be completing a backyard project and plan to begin work on a new, renovated bar area in the basement this weekend. Lots going on!!

New Beginning...New Blog

As most of you know, if you are reading this blog, Joe and I are newlyweds (7/18/09). To keep our family and friends up-to-date with all of the happenings in our lives, we decided to start a blog. We have had a lot of changes this summer. Aside from getting married and honeymooning in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, we moved into a new house and Joe graduated and started a new job.

Here is Joe on his first day of work (7/27/09). He looks like he is ready for his first day of school!

This is a photo of Joe and I in Cozumel. The trip to Cozumel wasn't quite what we expected, especially since no planning went into it:) We did, however, have an incredible time in Mexico and hope to go back soon.
